I love giving clarity on this, helping your health to thrive and putting the joy back in food; after all, food needs to nourish us yes, but it also gathers us together round the table and helps us to share the love…

 

FOOD NEWS

At this time of year our Immunity can really start to drop off as it’s been a while since our last boost of Vit D from summer sun! Luckily our gut microbes really help to strengthen our immunity too.
Recent research showed that small amounts of fermented food every day helps increase the diversity of our gut microbiome – the single best thing to nurture a happy gut.
New gut microbes don’t survive for very long so we need continuous exposure to probiotics – live, friendly bacteria like those in fermented foods – the 4 K’s: kefir, kombucha, kimchi, and kraut (sauerkraut) are great choices. This is my most recent ferment – carrot, onion, apples, ginger and rosemary – we do a whole session on ferments like these in my Gut Health Course!

NOURISH

I remember making this recipe with my Gran when I was a little girl – I’ve changed it a bit since then!

With less than half the sugar of most teatime treats and much more fibre, this GUT HEALTHY CHOCOLATE FRIDGE CAKE is  fabulous for adding chocolate love!

Enjoy with a glass of organic milk for a nutritious after-school treat too! 😋 (Organic milk, being more grass fed, is higher in unsaturated fats and antioxidant Vit E)
